Janine S. York, Psy.D., RPT-S

Dr. York is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and co-founder of Associates in Neuropsychology & Wellness. She provides therapy to individuals across the life span with a specialization in children and adolescents. She also performs psychological evaluations to children, adolescents and adults with diverse psychological diagnoses. Dr. York is a Registered Play Therapist-SupervisorTM through the Association for Play Therapy, is certified in Mindfulness Based Play Family Therapy through the Family & Play Therapy Center in Philadelphia and is in the process of completing a certification in Child and Adolescent Trauma.

Dr. York received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY and her Masters and Doctorate degrees from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, Washington DC campus. Her doctoral internship was completed at Astor Services for Children and Families in Rhinebeck, NY where her training was focused on play therapy, familytherapy, and assessment under the supervision of Dr. Athena Drewes. Dr. York’s post-doctoral training was at a private group practice in Ft. Myers, FL and at Pennsylvania Counseling Services in Carlisle, PA.

Through training and certification in play therapy, Dr. York is able to offer all age groups an alternate way to communicate, and process and work through their issues which may include behavioral issues, anxiety, depression, trauma, and more. Facing unprecedented challenges during the global pandemic, Dr. York worked hard to continue providing appropriate and effective services for all clients. She learned innovative and creative ways to engage children in tele-play therapy so that there were no gaps in services even when being in-person in the office was not an option.

Dr. York is an active member of the Pennsylvania Association for Play Therapy and currently serves on their board as President. She is also a professional member of the National Register of Health Service Psychologists and the American Psychological Association.
